how to pack to move in a hurry
Essential Packing Tips for Moving in a Hurry
An unexpected move can sneak on you just like a professional ninja assassin. And when such a last-minute move yells out, “it’s time to pack your stuff” behind your back, the best way to handle the situation is to slow down and make a packing plan for moving day.
Ideally, most people wish they had six weeks or so to come up with a moving plan and get everything right. However, if you are equipped with enough tips and with professional assistance, you can do it efficiently in the shortest time possible. To help you pack and move in a hurry, here are a few tips you need to keep in mind.

1. Start early and seek help
It’s easy to get overwhelmed when you’re planning to move, and the clock is quickly ticking. Don’t just sit and start wondering what to do next. Stand up and start drawing up your plan as quickly as possible. If you have a huge pile of items that you want to pack, don’t feel ashamed to seek help from your friends or a professional mover.
2. Make a list of things to pack ahead of time.
Before you start moving to every room, cabinet, or closet to pull out your stuff, make a list of items that you plan to pack or leave behind. If you are planning to move all the furniture to your new location, add all of them to your “pack” list. If, on the other hand, you don’t care anymore about your weight loss equipment, list them under “dispose.”
3. Get rid of the things you don’t need
The fewer things you want to move to your new home, the easier your packing will be. Pull out the items that you no longer need from your rooms, cabinets, and closet and quickly determine the ones that you want to recycle, donate, or throw away. Resist the urge to pack everything with the idea of throwing those that you don’t need once you reach your new home. Getting rid of things you don’t need before your move saves your energy and time for the things that matter.
4. Pack and sort later
It’s better to organize your stuff when you want to move, but moving in a hurry means you don’t have the luxury to sort out your possession. That said, don’t spend too much time organizing your stuff. If there are items that need a lot of time to sort out, just pack and sort them later. Focus on accomplishing things that need to be done as quickly as possible.
5. Pack in order of importance
Another essential packing tip for moving in a hurry is to pack things in order of their importance. In each box, start with things that you don’t use frequently and then put the things that you use daily on top. This way, you won’t have problems finding things that you will need immediately when you arrive at your new home.
6. Pack room by room
Instead of pulling out everything from all the places to pack, just focus on one area at a time. Go shelf by shelf, drawer by drawer and room by room packing items in boxes, and labeling them according to the area they came from. Don’t worry about having a specific box for each item or keeping similar items together. Put things where they fit as long as you pack them safely and securely.
7. Move some furniture as-is
Some of your household furniture may require you to disassemble them before moving them out. This is something you can do if you have the right tools, but the concern is you don’t have enough time to do so. While moving in a hurry, it may seem ideal to disassemble everything, small pieces of furniture can be put in the box and moved on their own.
8. Hire professional packers
Most moving companies not only move items but also offer professional packing services. Hiring those companies comes with many benefits such as less stress and saves a lot of time. Besides, you won’t have to search for moving supplies.
